Description
This charming face, with slightly puffed-out cheeks, resembles classical images of the winds blowing upon the earth. It originally formed the base of a curving handle on a jug or ewer, a superb example of the Roman attention to detail. Though we do not have the rest of the vessel, this delightful fragment evokes it grace and beauty in our minds. - (FZ.103)
